The meter in question is for a business in a salon that I own. We took this on as we found it when we took on the lease 6 years ago.
I had an engineer come out last year to fit a SM who had a look and said it cannot be done due to the wiring needing to be upgraded and he couldn’t touch it because of this. That was that and he said it’s likely you’ll never get it sorted as you’d need an electrician and an EON engineer there at the same time (of course eon give a 4 hr period in which they visit and the likelihood of getting the two together successfully is very low…)
What’s also problematic is that the business is open Monday-Saturday and we had to and would have to close for half a day for an engineer visit.
The engineer also said this was our landlords responsibility to sort electrician wise.
Anyway, a year on and I’m getting emails about the same thing again, obviously automated as if someone was to look at our notes they’d see that we did indeed have an engineer visit last year that was unsuccessful.
I understand this is a tricky situation as legally it needs to be changed and upgraded and would be happy to go smart, but I’ve been told this cannot be done and am unsure what to do further.
I suppose my question is, what happens to an out of certification meter that cannot be changed to a smart meter? Has anyone had this problem?
