EDF have decided they are not willing to do anything about my meters but can leave with no fees for another provider!
Wierdly, my gas meter is sending readings to EDF but my electricity won't. Does this confirm that the electricity meter is indeed faulty? The meters are around 18 inches apart from one another.
If gas readings are getting through, this indicates that the communications hub (on the electricity meter) is communicating with the gas meter over the HAN and then successfully communicating with the DCC via the WAN.
So either there is a fault with your electricity meter, or it is sending data correctly but the data isn 't getting through because of a misconfigutation at DCCs end. That is, they are receiving meter data but something in their systems isn't forwarding the data to the supplier.
Does the Citizens Advice smart meter checker show your meter as visible to the system, working in smart mode and correctly married up with the right supplier?
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@retrotecchie
I thought that could be the case, think EDF just couldn't be bothered to get it working or swap the already new meter (the engineer did say they are losing money on them so probably would swap it).
The citizens advice checker showed nothing for the electricity meter, said gas should work in smart mode (which it does, doesn't show on IHD though)

Reason: Add info
If it's not showing on Citizens Advice properly, but the gas is (which goes through the same hub and uses what's called the gas proxy in the electricity meter) then it's a misconfiguration by EDF.
I'm assuming you can access the electricity meter to take manual reads and the meter registers do increase in line with your consumption? If so, it's almost guaranteed to be a misconfiguration between the DCC and EDF, usually something to do with a dodgy entry in the BOL (Business Organisational Layer) which is the 'interface' between raw metering data and the supplier responsible for the meter.
The problem won't require an engineer visit, but more likely EDF and DCC to liase to address the misconfiguration at their side. Good luck with that...
@retrotecchie
Oh right I see that makes sense.
Yes I can access the manual reads on the meter (it's long winded but the engineer showed me how).
It's set to give the overnight rate (00:30-0730) which is when I charge my EV (Can't see why EDF just couldn't give me the EV tariff on this basis, they just said they need half hourly reads but surely if the meter records as it should, I just provide manual readings??). It does calculate properly to, 7hrs on the 3pin volvo charger (~2.3kw), 2nd reading on meter changes by 18kw.
I will liase with EDF again and if no joy, just switch suppliers and hope they can pull their fingers out instead!
Thanks again for the help 😉
