My gas meter usually provides the meter reading on the scheduled day, however, I noticed recently that I've only had a bill for electricity and not gas. I went to my gas meter to with the intention of providing a manual reading, but the meter display will not turn on.
I've looked up the model (EDMI GS-60B) and followed instructions to try and turn the display back on - chiefly, holding down the right button, but this has done nothing.
I'm a little stumped as to how this is resolved. Does the meter need to be replaced, or is it just a battery issue? And who is responsible for carrying out this work?
I should mention, my energy is of course supplied by E.on.
This sounds as if the battery which powers your gas meter has run out. It happened with my gas meter a few years ago before I was transferred to Eon Next from Npower. You'll need to call Customer Services to book an engineer appointment. They'll probably replace the meter, that's what the Npower engineer did with mine, he said they couldn't just replace the batteries in gas meters when they fail. I didn't know they were battery-powered until the engineer informed me. Call Customer Services on Monday to get it fixed as soon as possible in order to avoid as many estimated bills as possible.
Spot on @Tommysgirl, this is absolutely something we need to arrange an appointment for.
It's great you have followed the steps on how to wake up your meter, with this having been done and the screen still blank it will need to be replaced.
