The engineer that fitted our new smart meter this week said that the two images attached show us import and export, recognised by
In = Import total
EH = Export total
its been four days since fitted and the two values are identical. There is something not right either in the fitting or the instructions given to me. Any help would be greatly received.
I am chasing help desk but a return engineer is another two weeks away and I’m concerned if the meter is not reading correctly then we will get charged for useage currently at 450kw / day.
I am hoping I can post a photo once thread is live
@retrotecchie I’m sorry to bother you. I have just read a thread where you were incredibly helpful to someone else having a similar problem. My question if you have time is whether you know if our new smart meter fitted is actually fit for purpose. Does it measure import and export separately or is it combining the two? We have got 160kw of Solar fitted and thankfully it’s been an overcast this week since new meter installed but something is off
That's not a smart meter. It's an obsolete AMI three phase meter!
From my experience of these puppies, they are also no good for solar installations. Allegedly they can register exported energy, but I've not seen one yet that does it correctly.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

I don't want to risk disagreeing with our learned @retrotecchie as I know absolutely naff all about these meters 😅
However the documentation I've seen does indicate that they have built-in GSM communication (looks like yours has an ANT4 antenna behind the label at the bottom)
This video shows one connecting via the phone network (albeit sounds like it's New Zealand)
Presumably won't have the built in protocols to work with the DCC though? 🤔
They do have the option for fitting what is known as a 'SAM2 Modem', but these are not, to my knowledge, fully compatible with the UK DCC. I may be wrong, and they may now have a UK compatible system, but these meters are certainly not 'smart' in terms of the UK energy networks definition of 'smart. And no provision for a ZigBee HAN Network to drive an IHD.
The two things they don't appear to have: SMETS compatible instruction sets and an intimate communications interface (ICI).
These do have Modbus and a couple of other interface options for connecting to an industrial BMS system, so in that respect they are better than a smart meter if you wish to do anything useful with them!
Commonly used in Singapore and New Zealand for three-phase AMI systems.

Thanks both. I have turned solar off for the weekend to see if values drop off. I’ll turn Solar on and the draw from coldstores off Monday when we are forecast some sunshine and watch the meter. Hopefully build a picture before engineer arrives in two weeks.

@Farmer looking at the documentation it shows some graphics at the top left with P⬅️ or ➡️ indicating the direction of flow (in/out) being displayed when you scroll through your display options, so whether this works on your meter I don't know
