Does anyone else think there is something wrong about the way the computation of top contributors rankings are arrived at? Is there a disconnect with the best answer table?

Hey @meldrewreborn 👋,

With the 'Top Contributors' this would be based on the data of who has posted the most but 'Best answer generators' would be who has the most selected 'best answers' on their posts. Do you feel that some best answers may have been missed on threads? 🤔 I understand there is quite a difference in the posting data in comparison to best answers.

I think that there are some issues with either the platform itself and/or individual accounts, as I score 77 for both which I know is incorrect. My score for 'Top Contributors' used to be about 400 points higher but it dropped overnight a while ago. If I remember correctly this has happened to me before so whatever the cause was it hasn't been fixed. If points disappear as in my case then I'd question the accuracy in general.

Personally I'd get rid of both tables, I don't think that they add any value to the Community. As long as solutions are offered and correctly identified then I think that's all that matters.

Remember @Andy65 and @meldrewreborn there was a bit of a shift just before @Beki left for pastures new, I believe it was Sept/Oct time.

Top contributors are based on active contributions to the community so giving a thumbs up, commenting on a thread, choosing a best answer etc. Receiving best answers was removed from this category and we made a best answer generator board specifically for this.

The welcome, news and updates section is my project at the moment, so you will all start to see some changes in this section over the next coming weeks while I make sure everything is still up to date and make necessary changes 😊

In fact it would be great to have some community input on what you would like to see in the getting started section...is there something you wished you knew when you first joined us that took a while to figure out? Was there anything missing that you think you know what I would love to know how to do this on the community 🤔

The problem as I see it is that best answers is too historic and I suspect that most best answers are from a long time ago and weights the table towards contributors are less active now than they once were.

perhaps like the EAC best answers should only come from the most recent 2 years, if the intention is to inform newbie’s of the standing of other contributors.

We are working on ways to alter this @meldrewreborn the biggest issue is that we are bound to what we can physically change on the platform some things are a bit more customisable than others.

We do have some new badges in the pipeline and I'm working on a new guide to explain how it all works 😀
