I'm eager to ensure I'm compliant within the terms of SEG so does Eon Next have a fair usage on 'Brown energy' export? EG. exporting from both solar and battery.
Octopus always encouraged to discharge battery to help the grid demand during peak hours as an example.

Reason: Typo
The rules on brown energy have changed, I remember we spoke about this before @retrotecchie I did have this clarified with the Operation's Manager in FIT and the message received is the following,
'Brown Energy, the SEG guidance allows us to pay for both. As ultimately you have to have a renewable set up in order to do it'
I do remember this being a big NO in terms of SEG however has 100% been a rule change, I asked the question in November 2023. I hope this clarifies. I try to keep my ear to the ground around the rules and regulations.
Any massive changes their will be content off the back of it, maybe we should get something out there to confirm.
Thanks

@WizzyWigg I'm flattered,
@Thewookiewon It was something previously that would void an account however the rules have changed in recent times, best thing to do is submit your paperwork which I know you have and if there is anything we need to clarify, we will be in touch.
To put your mind at ease, do you want to pop me a DM with your address and I can see what stage we are at, to be honest, if you have received your SEG Plan, everything should be good to go.

I think what a lot of solar/battery owners would appreciate knowing is the definition of brown energy, whether exporting from a battery is allowed or not, if that is covered by export payments etc.
Brown energy: Charging your batteries on cheap rate imported electricity and then exporting it to get a better price per unit than you paid for it.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Yep which other providers tariffs is built to accommodate for, so clarification is obviously needed. I'm thinking of users with just batteries and no PV is another scenario of brown energy user
Problem is there isn't an easy way to differentiate between battery discharge and PV discharge to grid if you've got both capabilities.
Using a battery only with no wind or PV is not acceptable for SEG purposes. Most SEG applications require an installation diagram and specifications of the equipment used. There usually needs to be some clarification that the battery cannot backfeed the grid. That may have changed but I'm pretty sure it's not allowed last time I checked the rules.
