If you have a fault with your Generation Meter, you would need to contact your installer or a local MCS accredited installer.
Unfortunately it's not something our customer service teams can assist with.

I think there must be a problem I tried to submit my reading today and noticed that the reading is exactly the same as the one i submitted on 1st March 2024, it has not changed, who is responsible for repairing the meter as obviously there is a fault.
Any advice would be appreciated. -

There is a FIT/SEG number you can call…

Hey @Shona thanks for taking the time to post. I appreciate this is an old thread but I wanted to reply in case someone else come across this in future with the same question.
My first question would be has anything changed with the meter or the solar panels such as a meter exchange or having smart installed etc that has meant they needed to be turned off. I would first check that the solar panels are 1) switched on at the fuse 2) the solar panels are turned on at the mains and the dial is in the on position.
If you have checked both of these then you should always get in contact with your installer or another MCS installer for an inspection to ensure that your panels or the generation meter haven't developed a fault 😊 If your installer is no longer trading then you can find an alternative MCS installer by following this link to the MCS website"Green is the prime colour of the world and that from which it's loveliness arises"-Pedro Calderon De La Barca 🌳

IF you have a smets2 "smart" meter then go outside, look at the displayed numbers, and if necessary press the 'next' button. Mine cycles for three seconds each on £, Import(kWh), Export(kWh). Today was so cloudy that Export won't have changed enough to notice in one day on a meter which displays whole kWh. At this time of year, one sunny day or one dismal week will advance the number "Export(kWh)" and your FIT meter is supposed to advance by more than "Export" did.
IF you have a string inverter (often in the attic) then read the instruction manual. Many of them have a handy LCD display showing such things as kWh generated since installed, and kWh generated "today". Those numbers should be consistent with what your FIT meter shows.
IF your FIT meter stopped increasing, and you'd not seen export nor any other indication of normal generating, then call an MCS solar installer. Be it over-officious safety cutouts or some other unknown fault, some older types of inverter sometimes stop working after a few years. The right thing to do, subject to a second opinion from a qualified solar installer, is to leave the solar panels up on your roof and do an 'inverter swap' in the attic. I've had to do that once in 12 years, and the replacement inverter works slightly better than the original one, from the original twelve year old rooftop solar panels.Last edited by wizzo227; 42 Minutes Ago at 19:07.
