Since January I've been unable to put a gas meter reading in on line. When I click on it it says your meter is no longer active. I contacted customer services a couple of weeks ago. They weren't sure why it was happening and said they'd pass it onto another team to look into. I gave them my latest reading. When I check on my account its still saying no longer active. I've put electricity readings in each month and am getting billed for that, but not for the gas. I'm worried about getting a huge gas bill when I finally get this sorted.
As it's been a couple of weeks since you reported the problem I'd give them another call to chase them up and see where they are with it.
How do you normally pay, is it by monthly direct debit? If it's by fixed DD then you'll still be paying your averaged monthly amount for gas. If it's by variable DD or receipt of bill then just keep a typical amount in reserve until they fix it.
Don't forget that your gas usage should now be a lot less due to the warmer weather. I'd suggest taking a photo of your gas meter reading just in case, when you log in to your account can you see your gas meter read history or has that disappeared as well?
@Andy65 Thanks, I'll try them again, I feel like its going to take a while to get sorted. I'm paying DD but only £60 a month, so I'm keeping some extra aside each month as I think I'll need to pay a higher amount once they start charging me for the gas. Cheers.
