i just got a new smart meter fitted yesterday afternoon and i was tod my night time economy 7 rates would start at 12:30 am
i have been sat in front of my display unit i was given for the last hour(12:30 am to 1:30 am) and it has not switched over to the cheaper night time rates i have had a look on the display unit to see if the economy 7 night and day rates are on there but it is only showing the day time rate and the standing charge
the day time rate is 31.90 in the day and 10.50 in the night
it looks like its charging 31.90 at night instead of 10.50 thats triple
is this usual for a brand new smrt meter to act like this and totally leave out the night time rate
eon-next can you please sort this out asap
thank you
E7 rates operate to GMT so as we are now on BST, you will only see the night rate from 01h30 to 08h30 now until the clocks go back at the end of October. It's possible that if you watched until 01h30 then you may have just missed the switch over.
I would check again this morning if you can, you should be on the night rate until 08h30.
Never mind the display unit (IHD). Have a look on the meter itself to see what the day and night rates are. If you let us know the model number of your meter, or post a photograph, we will hopefully be able to provide information on how to read the day and night rates.
IHD's struggle with dual tariffs sometimes, so the meter readings are more of an insight than what the IHD shows. You will be billed for the correct day and night rate usage, no matter what the IHD says.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
If it is indeed showing the same rate for day and night consumption you need to ask CS for a tariff update to be put through to the meter. Then your IHD should show the correct data. The figures on the IHD are for information purposes only they do not form part of the billing process - readings are requested by the supplier from the meter itself not the IHD. The amounts you are billed will be as shown in your online account, with the correct tariff rates applied to the day and night consumption -assuming that split is operating correctly.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
