I just ran the maths and worked out Next Pledge 24 would be a better deal than staying on Loyalty v4. Surprise, surprise...a £75 exit fee slapped on. WhatsApp sorted the problem and apparently there is a dedicated team reversing erroneous exit fees, but the backlog is currently 3 days.
Time will tell.🙄
Sounds like you got a response on WhatsApp then, so at least you're on the list to get a refund. I've heard nothing so probably not even made it to the bottom of the list yet 😕
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
I got the two £75 exit fees for switching to Pledge, reversed within 20 minutes with a phone call to customer services, and a £10 credit for their error.
Nice one. I just couldn't face a phone call. As long as I get the refund at some point I'll be happy. The £10 bonus would be good though. The only thing is that my initial DD will be based on my credit balance and currently that's £150 light. It'll all come out in the wash, I suppose.
One of the things I learned today is that there is currently a ban on supplier offering cheap deals to new customers (to increase their customer base). In other spheres regulators have insisted that prices offered to new customers must also be available to existing customers. OFGEM seems to be heading in the other direction if a ban on introductory offers is ended.
This is what OFGEM said
Today Ofgem is also publishing a decision to extend the ban on acquisition-only tariffs (BAT) for another 12 months, but intends to open a consultation to consider shortening this extension to just six months.
The BAT was introduced in April 2022 to provide more stability at the height of the energy crisis, removing often risky short-term discounted tariffs intended to attract customers from other suppliers.
As competition returns to the market, Ofgem is encouraging rising numbers of customers switching with a number of measures, including shortening the time suppliers are given to complete a customer transfer from 15 days to just five.
Additionally, from 1 April, the Market Stabilisation Charge – introduced in tandem with the BAT – will come to an end, meaning suppliers are no longer required to compensate a new customer’s previous supplier when they switch.
This influenced the regulator’s decision to temporarily extend the BAT rather than remove both safeguards at the same time, ensuring a phased and responsible return towards normality in the market while preventing a return of the risky behaviours which contributed to the high number of supplier failures during the energy crisis.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Does anyone know when the current E-ON next 12 and 24 month fixed tariffs were issued, trying to work out if they anticipated the April price drop, or will there be further changes in a few weeks, thanks
I was looking at NEXT SECURE FIXED 24M V1 a few days ago and that changed to v2 yesterday and was a bit cheaper than v1 so presumably they are already taking in the new April price cap. That's not to say they won't change again.
