I'm sorry that your question has gone unanswered, this has only just come to my attention.
ALT HAN for Gas Smart Meters is already something we can book in for any part of the UK as far as I'm aware. Have you been told otherwise?
I do know that for this particular appointment type, we have to escalate this with Morrison Energy Services, but it is something that can be done.
When you say that this will resolve an Ombudsman ruling, have you taken a complaint to the Ombudsman and they've explicitly stated that E.ON Next must do this?

Hi on 17th Jan 2024 I was emailed this and I quote
"I have had a look into the alt Han and we are not currently offering this for gas as it is in trial mode I am afraid."
Hopefully things have moved on since then?
By the way the above statement doesn't square with a team from the North who said they were installing elec & gas meters but that was in the North.
My ombudsman ruling says that EON Next (as the company who took over from Sainsbury's Energy - they were chosen as they don't force Smart Meters onto customers) must install replacement Smart Meters to fix the issue with the IHD. Having had three sets of Smart Meters installed it's recognised that there is no point in fitting another set which is why it's been agreed that I'll wait until alt HAN is available.
