I have been an E.On Next customer since November 2021 and the “usage” feature has never worked for me. When I click it, I receive an error message saying that E.on is “beavering away behind the scenes…”.
I’ve called a number of times and go through the standard uninstall, reinstall, resets on my account etc but this doesn’t seem to fix anything, nor can I seem to get hold of anyone who is understanding my issue.
You may find that the Bright app is a more reliable monitor of usage albeit only for historical monitoring of what you have used in previous days/weeks/months. For in day usage (kWh especially) the IHD can be useful.

Is anyone else in the same position?
@boatyed - what version of the app are you using? And what device, operating system (Android/iOs) and O.S version does your device have?
I know that their app requirements on Google PlayStore seem to be quite device/version specific - for instance I was able to get it working on an old Nexus7 tablet which it claimed wasn't compatible by manually porting the app's APK from my phone.
@geoffers Thanks for your reply, I am using the latest IOS with the latest version of the app from the App Store.
Whilst I fully appreciate it could be possible to get working, like you suggesting manually porting APK’s, this shouldn’t be difficult for a multi million pound company to get right. Scottish Power, SSE, OVO Energy (when it existed) all had these features!
@Mailman I will give the Bright App a go, but as I said on my previous reply here, there is no excuse really as to why E.On hasn’t bothered to fix this feature?! It clearly exists for some but why not others…? Makes NO sense.
I think you have both apps running (Eon Next and Bright) so perhaps you can confirm or not (for @boatyed) that the Eon Next app brings nothing to the table that cannot be provided by the Bright app plus with Bright you can manually input tariff information costs that you cannot do with the Eon Next app. This will be extremely useful for those that require £ usage data. Both apps generally update with usage information the next day (sometimes > 1 day) so do not provide in-day usage data. For in-day usage having a functioning IHD is generally very good IMO for kWh usage (but not necessarily for £ usage) 👍

Here are the displays for both apps. I think that Bright wins over Eon since it can be refreshed to near real time usage (I've just updated its data to 08:00 today=Sunday morning), and can be configured to display the correct tariff/cost for my electricity.
Eon won't display my electricity costs which I think may be to my dual rate ToU tariff (though why they can't program this into the app is beyond me)
Morning @boatyed When you say you have done the standard uninstall and reinstall was that just by the "Touch and Hold" method on the home screen then deleting the app? If so just on the odd occasions it can leave odd bits of data which can interfere with the reinstall. It might be worth a deeper clean. Ways to do so can be found on this website: https://www.wikihow.com/Delete-Application-Data-in-iOS Prior to reinstalling I would reboot the device.
