Can anyone tell me why my So called smart meter adds 24p gas and 26p electricity when it resets at midnight.

Best Answer@00Joff00 Hi there.
This sounds like the Daily Standing Charges which are charged to your account each day - it's a standard practice across almost all suppliers to do this. Your Smart Meters and In-Home Display are configured with these rates as part of the tariff info, and they automatically add this in as part of the number crunching so that you get a better idea of the actual cost of your energy each day. If you don't use any gas for the entire day at all, then the only charges you'll see for gas would be that 24p for the day.
You may want to check the details of your tariff to double check whether these additions match what your tariff has for the Standing Charges.Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

That was my first thought so I checked my tariff. My standing charges are 18.8p for electricity and 12.5p for gas. Even with VAT it doesn't bring it up to the random charges on my meter.

Hmm... In that case I'd suggest asking for the SMETS Command Update Tariff Configuration to be executed against your meters, this should force everything on your site to pull down the correct rates. You'll also want to check your bills when you get them, since the IHD is mainly just an advisory tool and the calculations it does are not used for the actual bills themselves.
