you would pay less for your energy if you paid via Direct Debit - paying on receipt of bill by direct debit is at least 5% cheaper, and effectively what you are doing but with less faff.
unfortunately many with your set up don’t pay their bills on time which pushes up the costs to those that do.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
@meldrewreborn I'm self employed so paying on receipt is easier with a fluctuating income. The figure of £151 per month shown in my screen shot is double what I pay and isn't related to my account

You can pay by Variable DD where you only pay for what you use and don't build up any credit or debit balance. You will still get the discount though. You need to contact customer service if you want to set it up.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
It’s a free country and if that’s how you prefer to do it then fine.
the proportion of those not using Direct Debit to pay is I think around 25% so you’re not alone. I just think many, in a time often referred to a cost of living crisis, are missing out on easy savings.
I’m an avid watcher of the Martin Lewis money show on ITV and check out his tips time and again.
I've just logged in to my account online and have exactly the same issue - a phantom direct debit has appeared on my account. It's clearly a bug in the system not just a one-off problem!
