Interesting that so much emphasis is put on the usefulness of the IHD.
Whereโs the one to explain that the IHD is regarded by Eon Next as a bonus item, and definitely not an essential part of smart metering, and only guaranteed for 12 months?
Sorry but the open goal was in front of me and Iโm not going to pass it up
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but Iโll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
In the interests of a balanced debate, can we have a few testimonials from folks without smart meters, who don't want them and who already track their energy usage to a much closer degree than possible with a smart meter? Those whose life is less complicated and far less hassle than some of those who have them. Just saying...
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Itโs well known on here that I like my smart meters and IHDโฆ when they work as intended. When they go wrong it can be a long frustrating process to get things fixed. I still recommend them but they can generate tales of woe. Hereโs mineโฆ
@PeterT_EONNext
Having had SMETS1 "Smart Meters" since 2017 I'm sure they could be beneficial if only they were reliable. I'm afraid that mine only seem to function properly 50% of the time, due to a longstanding "Industry Wide Issue" .
As there is no timescale to resolve this problem I'll continue with manual monitoring, which is way more accurate and no big deal.
Thanks for the replies guys! I should have seen this coming shouldn't I ๐
All very valid points of course! I know there can sometimes be issues with Smart Meters, as there can be with standard meters. We currently have over 59K standard meters that run on the radio signal, due to be turned off later this year resulting in them being non-functional, so we're bracing for that.
As the weeks go on, you'll see the different viewpoints of those who were interviewed, and all of these won't be the same views or experiences, so there is a range of opinions.
