Hi all I posted a few weeks ago regarding an issue with our IHD/smart meter which hadn't been showing any information since November.
Today I went to check the reading to send a manual one to EonNext and found the reading to be the same as it was on the last reading a month ago.
On reading through some forums ive noticed that the meter display no longer says import but only has an A in the top left corner with an open switch symbol.
I've tried multiple times to get this communicated to Eon but the most recent communicating is a First Port Form has been filled in please wait 8 weeks for a reply.
Can you access any other displays using the buttons? That is just showing a cash balance (credit) rather than an actual meter reading.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Ok, please try this. Pop the kettle on. Look at the meter and see if the kWh impulse LED flashes every few seconds. It's just to the left of the A showing on your LCD display.
When the kettle clicks off, does the flash rate drop significantly?
If the LED doesn't flash at all, or doesn't vary much between kettle on and kettle off, then the meter has likely got a defective current sensing element and will need replacing as it's not recording energy usage. EDMI have little or no documentation available for that meter other than the user guide which doesn't go into any more detail than reading the menus on a properly working meter.
The icon of the open switch is fine. It just shows the Auxilliary Load Relay is open. Unless you have a contactor wired to the meter to control off-peak heating systems, and you photo doesn't show any such wiring, it's a bit irrelevant.
@Lee_EONNext so without going into menu, it shows what would usually be import/export and cost however all 3 of these just have an A on them. The cost figure does not change nor has done since I last did a meter reading at the end of last month, as far as I can tell it's probably been the same since the IHD stopped working on 28th November.
