But business users can claim that back, at least. But it's still more expensive per mile than diesel, even so.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I count as both. In either case, diesel wins hands down at those prices! In fact, even petrol at an optimistic 31% efficiency is marginally cheaper than charging an EV at a motorway fast charger!

Hence my petrol ⛽ICE device will probably out live me 👴.
My 18 year old diesel has just turned 199,000 miles. It's just about run in now. Passed the MOT on 7th Nov with nothing needed doing. The emissions are better than the Euro 6 figures and the mechanic says it should be good for half a million miles with no problems. More than enough to see me out.

Our little 7 year old has only done 35000 and looks sounds and runs like the day it came off the production line. As long as it can get us to the gardens we care for, that'll do. After that over to the good old OAP bus pass and of course ambulation (aided or unaided). 👴😉
I bought my 1.5 diesel Qashqai brand new over 8 years ago and it now has just over 100k on the clock. I thought I’d get a new car when I retired but now I think why bother. I probably still get nearly 60mpg even though I don’t do many long runs now and have never paid any road tax although I think I’ll be paying about £20 a year soon.
I’m not sure how good the Renault engine is that’s under the bonnet but I don’t intend changing cars any time soon.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
And if my car carks it before I make the half million, it will likely be for reasons other than the engine. I'll just do with it what I did with my first diesel...remove the engine, fit it on a static mount, swap the radiator for a heat exchanger and put a 7.5kW alternator head on in place of the air con pump. Run it on red diesel and use it as a back up generator! The previous version used the 1.9 TU normally aspirated lump from a 1991 Pug 309. That was running on used chip oil. The VAG TDi is not as forgiving, unfortunately!
