Have you timed them accurately with a phone stopwatch or something? I’m not sure 7 seconds is a known rate.

Also, check out Ivie Bud. Currently on offer at under £40. I think they’re good to deal with. I know that some have bought one and still get the waiting for current data message though. You could perhaps contact them to see if they think having one might fix your issues. Also check out their returns policy…
As a backup option to monitor spending and or usage have you looked at the Bright app? If you need specific costs for individual appliances in real time then an energy monitoring plug (circa£10 atm) can be useful as Bright only offers historical usage for the previous day(s). If you absolutely need a daily spend total for the current day, your only option might be to dig into your pockets.
I just want the whole family to see how much we are using on a daily basis.
