IHD reboot loop
-
Hi. My IHD refuses to connect to the meters, and just displays waiting for connection, and then reboots in a constant loop. I've tried switching off and moving next to the electricity meter to reset but still nothing. I've had issues with my meters recently not connecting and sending smart reading, but the started working again.

@Chrish72 Depending on your IHD. Try unplugging your IHD, let the battery go completely flat, move close to your meter, plug back in and switch on. Also it might be worth switching Wi-Fi router off and other devices to flight mode for about 30 minutes to reduce the 2.4 ghz influence and improve the chance of the IHD to connect. If all fails post some photos of your meters, IHD and comms hub. Also what's the status of the lights on the comms hub are doing. Colour and frequency of flash. Then some of our more learned members might be able to advise.

Hi. It's currently sat next to the meter. It's displays a screen saying waiting for current data, and the wireless icon flashing. It then switches off, the 3 lights at the bottom come on, and repeats the above. Of note both the wan and han lights are flashing on the electricity meter, alot more than they usually do, and there are also 2 red light flashing intermittently. These are labelled 1000imp/kwh and 1000imp/kvarh. I will try draining the battery. I've also reset settings on the IHD.

Will do. I'll post back later. Currently it's stopped the reboot loop, and just sits there with a dot in the signal area and says connection lost. Working fine yesterday 😕

Ok. So left it with no power this, afternoon whilst I did other stuff. Just powered it back up, just says connection lost, with a dot where the wireless signal should be, and time says 00.00 sounds like it's either goosed or eon need to come out or do something remotely
Its currently sat next to the electricity meter. -
I checked the comms-hub (CH) on the meter & the WAN light had stopped flashing, but the others were all flashing as normal.
The boot-loop continued for a while then stopped and connected ok : I checked the CH again and the WAN was now back flashing as normal.
From this I deduced that (possibly) the WAN dropping had triggered the CH to send a command to the IHD to reboot until everything was back to normal.
The fact that the signal connection icon doesn't show a connection (maybe) doesn't necessary mean that the IHD & the CH aren't connected and talking - it could be that the IHD is programmed to show the no connection icon if it is in fact the CH which has lost connection with the WAN.
That was my theory (cough) anyway, but there were some on this forum who disagreed with it 🤓
Also check out this link which explains (and has gif images of) the light flashing sequences - your o.p where you said they were flashing at medium frequency indicates they were attempting to reconnect

@geoffers
Thanks. Both the WAN and HAN lights are flashing away happily. Unit still displaying no connection.
Still awaiting a reply from Eon.... -
