Funny you should say that, I play online golf with some buddies from Australia and one of them always states 'The Mailman always delivers' 😎 🤣

People who post here have an issue. The advice we give relates to the issue not normally the person, their sex, gender, or personal pronoun. So as I’ve said before I don’t think that I make much if any use of them. When replying to an individual “you” is perfectly safe. Although somebody will think otherwise, just to be awkward no doubt.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

It does sound better and the use of 'the' is fine in this instance. My personal view, and it is purely that, is that the use of he, his, her, hers etc. in many instances flows and reads better. There is a clutch of us here that know a fair bit about each other and when referring to each other we use our appropriate pronouns without giving it much of a thought. I will call anyone what they want, as long as I know. Anyway, I've declared mine and hopefully it will make it a bit easier for those who don't know the first thing about me to communicate with me.I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -
@JoeSoap
A clutch. Is that the official collective noun for 'a group of forum participants'? If not, it ought to be. 👍
Do you think if you declare your smart meter's personal pronouns then E.On Next and DCC will find it easier to communicate with them? 🤔Last edited by retrotecchie; 03-11-23 at 17:44.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
First thing that came into my mind and I didn't remember using the word until I saw your post. Have I just made that up as a collective name? 🤔
Not sure about pronouns but I had some choice adjectives for them at one point 😂. I'd call them anything as long as they keep working as they should.
I can't get used to seeing He/Him under my name and didn't think I'd ever do that. I probably wouldn't in any other circumstance than on a forum where we use 'handles'. I've had to ask myself some questions. Will it harm me or anyone else if I have them there? Definitely not. Might it be of any assistance to anyone? Maybe. I'll keep them then. It's a conversation topic, if nothing else. -
@JoeSoap
You do have the option to remove pronouns if you go back into your profile and choose the blank line in the drop down list.

Hey everyone!
Just wanted to pop by to say, that I really do appreciate the feedback and I will take a look at each point raised to discuss with the other members how we can continue to support everyone in the community 💜
We added the use of pronouns as it can help create safe spaces for our new/current members and adds a personal touch to your own profile. We can appreciate some may not wish to display their pronouns as it may seem personal. So, we've also given everyone the option to remove them.
As I've mentioned in my post our aim of the community is to make sure everyone has a sense of belonging, a safe space where they can chat about anything and everything. Somewhere that you can also be yourself.
These small changes can make a big difference 🤗Knowledge is power, community is strength, and positive attitude is everything 💜 -
I once said to the former lovely Nextie, @Bennie_R97 :
"Always be yourself. If you can be anyone else, be Batman. Batman is pretty cool" 😎 -
I always loved that quote! I know I have been quiet, but I kept an eye on you all and I am so proud to see how amazingly you are all doing!
Being able to find a place where you can be yourself without judgment and make connections it's truly a win in life. I know this community it is exactly that! 🤗
