The first spike, followed by a plummet into 'negative consumption' was caused by me misreading the meter and submitting a reading that was 100kWh too high. It was only when I entered the figures into the spreadsheet that I saw the spike and thought something was odd, that I re-read the meter and then had to phone E.On Next to get the reading corrected. The second spike was a week of heavy use of the tumble drier over a particularly wet period that unfortunately coincided with an upcoming business trip so I had to get it all done before I went away. The low after the second spike was due to me not being home to use the cooker, kettle or toaster.
Yes, I could have tweaked the figures to smooth the graph, but they are what they are. The blue rolling average consumption line is the one that really matters and you can see the spikes have rather a minimal effect on a slow moving average.
There was a bit of an uptick at the end of September too caused by me doing a whole lot of batch cooking for the freezer.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
If you have smart meters extracting old data is doable (but not that easy), either long cut and pastes and/or copying numbers from one app to a spreadsheet. Using old bills is fine so long as the reads are smart or customer reads.... go to the Bright app if you have smart meters. 👍
@Mailman it's actually very easy extracting the data, since once you have registered the meters with Bright, you can then login and download all the data held on the meter (about 13 months worth) from their parent website glowmarkt.com 👍
This is in .CSV format so easily loads into Excel etc

I found it easy enough In another thread so hopefully the OP can get the raw data if they want to have a bash at their own graphs. 😀

What you've demonstrated is being totally aware of your consumption and what causes your peaks and troughs. Whenever stuff like batch cooking in the oven is done or washing (+ tumble drying) there is an obvious uptick in the daily numbers I record also. All it needs is a daily meter read to be on top of your energy usage and the reasons for changes. The issue for some customers is that it is all too easy NOT to spot sudden high consumption if you don't know what the 'normal' usage patterns are and for that I feel one needs to keep your own records (preferably daily as many of us do). 👍
You haven’t said whether you have smart meters or not but if you do, and as has been suggested, you can get graphs easily in the Hildebrand Bright app. To keep records you could simply take screenshots as I have done below…
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
@WizzyWigg Thanks, this looks like what I need to download the data. The only restriction is that you can only download a maximum of the last 90 days, but that's not a problem if I download regularly (say once a month) and add it to my spreadsheet.

You are welcome. Glad to be of some help.
I've got to be absolutely truthful I have never downloaded the data. My smart meters are old and rather erratic, sometimes transmitting data sometimes not. I use a spreadsheet that I manually populate. @geoffers is very genned up on the subject. 🌞
You're welcome 👍 - I've written an Excel VBA macro to do a detailed usage/cost analysis of my daytime night-time tariff rates, to compare to my monthly statements.
This is based on both GMT and BST timings (as the meter records in GMT and there was some doubt as to whether Eon were applying BST to the tariff-cost timings)
DM me if you want a copy if you think it's any use to you (same for anyone else reading this)
@Whyisitsohard - I've just checked the Bright costs against my spreadsheet and they are actually not allowing for BST in the summertime, so are an hour out in their calculations!
