What is The Demand Flexibility Service (DFS)?

The Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) is a project being run by the National Grid Electricity Supply Operators (ESO) that is available to energy suppliers. We've teamed up with them in the hopes to continue helping our customers get involved to save energy and money. The newest information can be found on our E.ON Next Blog, so make sure check it out 👉 #PowerSwitch

    What's the aim?

The aim of the DFS is to reduce energy use at peak times to make the grid greener this winter.
Lowering peak time energy usage will make use of more off-peak renewable energy, lower peak time energy prices, and avoid using back-up coal generators that are heavily polluting.

    When does it start?

Today we have sent around 10,000 emails inviting customers to enrol in the scheme and plan to launch a test event with these customers this evening (only customers who receive the invite email can take part at this moment in time). But don’t worry - we plan for more customers to join the scheme over the coming days / weeks, with a plan to launch a register your interest on our website further down the line.

What ways can I start saving?

    Switching to a smart meter
Switching to a smart meter means you can take control of your energy use, reduce energy bills as well as carbon emissions. Find out how you can get a smart meter for your home.

    Sharing ideas on the community

Any way we can help, we will

If you're concerned about your energy bills, why not have a chat with one of our Energy Specialists who will help and support you. We also have further information on our help page

Can I ask what has changed from the original 3 weeks ago?

    Is it?

If it is, I just don't get how you can state a test event can be launched under DFS if Eon Next are not a listed participant as per the DFS utilisation report for today's event (16/11/23) 🤔

    Morning @Mailman 👋

I wanted to reach out to our DFS specialists before coming back to you, so I'm sorry for the delayed reply!

The event that was scheduled yesterday (16.10.23) was a mini E.ON Next internal event - we did this so we could make sure everything was running as it should be and that we didn't have any problems (as you probably remember, we want a different experience this year!). Luckily everything ran smoothly, and all future events will be official and show up on the DFS Utilisation Report for that day 😊

Can you also confirm that the rewards posted over at MSE for Eon Next events are accurate (esp the £1 minimum for saving 20% + )? Maybe update the blog/opening post as well 👍
