Energy consumption and SEG are two completely separate entities. If you already have a SEG agreement with another provider, why do you need to move the SEG to E.On Next?

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Hi Retro,
Firstly let me say that I have worked in the Elecrical Industry all my life, and with respect I know what energy consumption and SEG are !
Yes I already have a SEG agreement with a provider, why do I want to move provider, simple EON Next are offering a better SEG rate than what my current provider is paying, this will help improve my ROI.

@paulj If you have a SEG account already then that licensee would have confirmed or rejected the battery storage options, as in charging from the grid etc. We will check the application and complete the switch.
There shouldn't be an issue if you have had a SEG account for 2 years, however as previously advised we will need to check the switch application.
That answers my question, thank you. I too have been in the business for most of my working life and three generations of my family have been in the electrical and gas metering business. I'm intrigued that other companies have even lower SEG rates. Most are significantly higher from what I see from many of the comments on here. Fortunately, I went solar in a previous property when FiT was paying 45p per kWh back in the early 2000s. The investment was fully paid back in 7 years and to this day generates 30% of the annual consumption on the previous property. Shame I'm not getting the benefit anymore 🤣🤣🤣.
My stating that consumption and SEG are two separate entities, as you know, was purely from the perspective that billing for energy consumed and payment for exported energy are two discreet functions. In a perfect world, energy suppliers would integrate both energy consumption and SEG into a single energy account so that rather than a customer paying the energy bills monthly, but getting SEG payments periodically, the whole setup would work on a net consumption basis where exported energy payments are calculated monthly and credited to the bill. Or when export exceeds consumption, your energy account was automatically credited. One day, I hope, that will be the case but sadly it won't happen until the entire smart metering system has been completely sorted out. And that won't happen all the time OFGEM and DCC are not being proactive in resolving the smart communications issues.
@paulj I'm sure the current SEG provider would carry out the same eligibility checks as us.

@retrotecchie
I passed City & Guilds in electrical engineering in 1974 via a 4 year apprenticeship with National Coal Board
With regard to SEG,I was on 5p pkWh that went up to 7.5p if I get on to EON Next it will go up to 16.5p pkWh
There are lots of providers that pay terrible SEG rates
@retrotecchie
They currently have 2 export tariffs
Next Export
You'll receive 3p per kWh of electricity you export
Available to :
- Anyone who gets their power from someone other than E.ON Next .
Next Export Exclusive We'll reward you with 16.5p per kWh of electricity you export.
Customers whose electricity is supplied by E.ON Next
OR:
- Customers who bought their solar installation from E.ON Solar but do not have their electricity supplied by E.ON Next .
