The core regulations for SEG will be the same across the Energy world, things like price per kw is something the licensees/Energy Company do set.
@retrotecchie Always has solid advice when it comes to solar and being self sufficient. Like mentioned, you can charge the battery to be used at a later date, which % wise would be more beneficial in terms of saving money?

Firstly I have been receiving SEG for 2 years and thought it would be a simple switch the same as it is for supplying energy.
No I have not applied for SEG as yet as it was not possible to get past the bit where you need to add your MCS (or equivelant) certificate number.
I am fully upto speed with Ofgem and its Guidance to Generators.
The core regulations from Ofgem for SEG may be the same across the energy world but there is also no legislative requirement for MCS certification.
It is at the SEG licencee's discretion they are not obliged to offer payments but they can make payments if they wish (SEG Guide To Generators 1.14).
my DNO UKpower networks has approved the installation and supplied an Export MPAN and are completely happy with my installation, which meets and exceeds the relevant version BS7671 electrical regulations that was in force at the date of installation (this was superceeded in September 2022).
So if it is purely an EonNext policy decision not to grant an export tariff to customers like myself.
I find this perplexing when I read in the news that coal power stations are being fired up because there is not enough grid capacity to power air conditioning systems in the summer when people like me could export solar energy to support such loads.
Seems like a massive missed opportunity to me!
MCS made sense when FIT tariffs were introduced to kick-start the immature solar generation industry but these days it adds no value beyond what the DNOs and BS7671 already cover.
Should you decide that you want to take this application forward then I will provide all requested documentation at that time.

Reason: Forgot to add scematic
@paulj Thank you for the above. We need to get this amended as the statement is no longer applicable. It no longer affects eligibility etc.
I have highlighted this to the Operations Manager in the SEG department and hes confirmed with me today that 'we need to get this updated'
Thank you for highlighting this. The rules on SEG seem to change frequently, it's important 100% factual information is out there, especially on our websites etc.
@paulj No worries at all, it's just a term used, almost industry jargon if you wish.
Keep us updated on the application, it can take on average 2-4 weeks, some applications might take longer during busy periods however the team will get it sorted.

I'm here if you need anything in the mean time 😀
I have submitted my application, only one issue I could see and that is I do not have the DNO's original G98 approval email (I have requested a copy from the DNO) I have added the approval reference number to my schematic outlined it in red, hopefully that will suffice until i get a copy of the original.
@paulj The reference is enough for us to raise the Export MPAN request. 😁
As I have said previously, I have been receiving SEG payments for 2 years I already have an export MPAN !
This should be a simple switch of provider not a fresh application for SEG.
