Does anyone have an electricity combi boiler? I am looking into it and am unsure about the Air-to-Air pump and other pumps. I do not want to exchange my gas boiler for a lot of work to be carried out and the possibility of changing the pipes.

It is 2-3 times more expensive than a gas version, but I have not seen any hard date or proof.

I live in a three-bedroom semi-detached home.

It's two to three times more expensive to run than gas because electricity is that much more expensive than gas. Electricity is not a good fuel for hydronic heating systems usually but I have experimented with such a system where I had no other viable options. From what I remember, they work better if all your radiator pipes are microbore (8mm or 10mm). Very cheap to produce, very simple to control, but painfully slow to get up to working temperature from a standing start. Maybe best if you already have solar installed.

Yes, my pipes are around 10mm, new built in 2018. Yes, I have been looking at solar panels with batteries and have a quote.

Any other suggestion please?

You will need to make sure any electrical supply to wherever you plan to install the boiler is adequate. You can't just plug 'em in to a 13A socket. A 20kW model draws 80A on full song. That's actually more than the supply to my house! A 14 kW unit drawing 56A would be more suitable for a 2 bedroom flat than a three bedroom semi. Probably a good Idea to have Economy 7 if you intend doing most of your heating at night.

@Anasa_EONNext Eon only do gas boilers. They should be banned from selling them. As far I can see Eon does not have electricity combi boilers

Surely EOn is the gas/electricity supplier, and has nothing to do with the type of boiler you have fitted.

I just went to a local Central Heating supplier when I had my boiler upgraded

Gas boilers, heat pumps, solar panels....

In a recent statement from HMG, the moratorium on installing new gas boilers has been put back for the simple reason that we, as a country, really cannot effectively transition to low carbon heating in a timely manner by banning new gas boilers.

Fortunately, they also pushed back the moratorium on oil boilers. These are cheaper to run than gas than gas by some margin, have a very similar emissions profile and can be run on non fossil fuel. HVO is marginally more expensive than conventional 'Dino' HHO, but only has a tenth of the carbon footprint of conventional kerosene and a third of that of natural gas.

But E.On Next don't do oil boilers. Neither do they do infrared flat panel heaters, underfloor heating or solar thermal. But there are any number of specialist heating installers out there who do.
