Balance your radiators... ...This is a non-technical way of balancing the CH system without the use of thermometers on the inlet and outlet pipes of each radiator.
When I rebuilt my system... (maybe 15 yrs ago - plumbing in a dual-pipe system to replace the original single-pipe system, where the in-flow water was progressively colder after passing through each rad : thus needing 2 rads in the sitting room 😲)...
I bought a cheapish infra-red thermometer to measure the comparative temperatures, which made the job a lot quicker.
Also used a tip from a plumber to put black tape on the rad at the points you're measuring as the reflectivity of a shiny white rad affects the I/R reading you pick up - made sense, and as you say the process works a treat 👍
I/R thermometer is now great for things like measuring where hotspots are if you're insulating; even use it to measure temperature of cooling milk, having boiled it prior to making yoghurt 😁
My system, being a lot newer, has digitally controlled pumps with built in diagnostics LEDs on the motor body so that helps with diagnosis, but there isn't an error code for 'noisy'! Most pumps are magnetically coupled so the motor body can usually be separated from the pump body without needing to drain and remove the business end. But you need to go to a plumbing specialist to get a separate pump body or just the motor. Most DIY outlets just want to sell you a complete pump.
And the first time I had to swap a pump that didn't have isolator valves...that's a day of my life I won't get back again!

Thanks for that tip re rads. We purchased one of those thermometers in 2020 (not sure why 😂). Never used it but you've given me an excuse to dig it out. Thanks 👍. As for the cooking side I've got a culinary one that does the job.
