Unfortunately, this kind of work doesn't come under any support packages. It's also necessary for the old meter to be removed and taken away as part of the meter swap - the engineer can't normally leave site without it.
Just another guy passing by... The unknown tech way...

It's doable, but depending on where the incoming feed to your existing meter is, it's a very expensive business and not only involves E.On Next but will also need a visit from your DNO to rejiggle the wiring up to the meter as it's their responsibility, and an electrician to do anything after the meter. If the distance between the new smart meter to your old dial meter is more than 2m, you will also need a fused isolator installing as well as an external meter box and new tails. You would be looking at around £1000 plus or so I would imagine. And you will need to pay for an external meter box. E.On only replace the meter in an existing location. Housing it externally is at your expense if you wish to relocate. Plus the cost of the 'hockey stick' cable ducting for the incoming cable.
Depending on the earthing arrangements at your property, the new location of the incomer will need a provision for terminating the suppliers earth, and/or a supplementary earth cable installing between the new meter location and the existing consumer unit.
Why bother? If you have a smart meter fitted where the existing meter is, it's no cost to you and you won't need to rearrange the pantry more than once as the meter will either be read remotely and automatically or you can read your consumption manually via the IHD.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
The meter removal and replacement in the same place carries no charge, the rest is up to you!
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
