The rate of installing new meters is on a downward trend. Still lots of domestic meters are dumb

Still too many problems - i/m still not tempted.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

I don't think that report would put me off having smart meters installed as I would probably think that when I eventually got them they would be part of the majority that work as intended. However, I can now confirm that it's not a good feeling to be in the minority 😞

I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

Trouble with anything new in this world, it's only the problems which get highlighted, and the media make a big thing of this, since as far as they're concerned only "bad-news is good news"

Forums also tend to give a very skewed viewpoint, since it's only the people with problems who post with their issues.

The silent majority never post messages, as they don't have any issues to moan about 😄

Also, many people just look at smart meters from their narrow personal perspective, as solely a means to view their immediate usage, and many just can't be a*sed with this.

I think a lot more emphasis should be placed on the way they will be utilised to balance loads on the system, with the reduction of fossil-fuel generation and the move to greener energy sources, plus the increasing demand on the finite grid resources with the growth in EV charging

Smart meter are not new - the technology is mature. Its a scandal that there are so many issues. Personally I think the problem stems from the specification for smart meters being much too top heavy, and the security surrounding the data being so strong. Its my belief that the powers in this country viewed the DCC networks as being a long term solution to all sorts of data handling requirements - most of which haven't yet been thought of.
