Hi my electricity smart meter is not sending meter readings again which is very annoying - both meters have been on/off over the past few years. They are Smet1 installed by Npower.
Shouldnt they have been changed over to smet2 by now - I have had loads of problems of dropped signals.
I have a duet2 ihd. A couple of weeks ago my tariff changed from a fixed rate to the default tariff but it is still showing the old (much cheaper!) fixed rate tariff on the ihd which is useless as I need to keep track of things now I am going to pay so much more.
Is there any way to change the tariff or is it supposed to happen automatically?
Thanks
Evening.
You have the same set up as myself. The only time they will change our SMETS1 meters are when you unable to take manual readings. At this moment in time mine are working and showing the correct tariffs. That will change when 3G is switched off. You could try sending an email to hi@eonnext.com for a tariff update. But before you do it might be worth looking at this thread https://community.eonnext.com/thread...ll=1#post35601 .
You are welcome. Please do. I'm sorry to say that even though my meters are still smart, at the moment, I prefer to monitor usage the old fashion way and take my own readings, which are entered on a spreadsheet. 👴 The smart metering system has a long way to go before it becomes completely reliable.
If your meter has stopped communicating then no tariff updates can get through to it in any case. The communication issue would have to be fixed first and then the tariff update would have to be tackled.
This is one for customer service, but as @WizzyWigg has pointed out, with links, this is sometimes not an easy fix.
Good luck with it and please keep us informed of any progress.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Thanks for your help. I complained to Eon and they finally changed both meters to SMET2. They left me a new IHD so just looking to see if that is working OK and what information I can get off it.

So glad to hear that you have got a positive result. Have a great weekend. 🌞
