Our DD used to be about £80 I think. When the govt help came in, it reduced to £17. It stayed at that amount after the help was withdrawn, as the account was still 5 or 600 pounds in credit.
Today it's £345 in credit. Been told that the DD is to increase to £165 . This makes no sense to me . We use 6 or 7 units a day. Smart meter. Unit cost 28p . Standing charge 53p. We're on a fix till Feb 24.
The readings on the account match that usage.
So I think our usage in money terms is £75 to £80 a month. So, with the account £345 in credit, why is the DD being put up to £165??
Look at you last bill and find the estimated annual usage. This will be based on past consumption data. Multiply this by your tariff rate and add the daily standing charge x 365. Make sure you are including VAT. This is your estimated annual cost.
Subtract your credit balance and divide what's left by 12. This is a good idea of what your monthly DD should be going forward.
With all these figures and calculations you can contact customer service from a knowledgeable position and put the case for what you think your DD should be set at.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
36.2157 megawatt hours would definitely cost around £10k a year.
Ignore it. Mine always says about £4500 a year but its closer to £1200 in reality
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
