I've just noticed that as well as being able to drop your monthly Direct Debit by 10%, you can also cancel the next DD completely - 5 days notice is required!
We've read sometimes that reducing the DD can be difficult as is getting a refund of an excessive credit balance, but there are different way of achieving the desired result.

I have a hefty credit balance which I'm happy with as my monthly DD is very low compared to how much is was recently. Out of interest, I went into my account and selected Manage My Payments. I was then given three options... Change Bank Account, Change Amount and Change Date.
I selected Change Amount, thinking Cancel Next DD Completely might be hidden in there but I was only allowed to request a change in the recommended amount. I suppose I could have requested £0.00 but I don't think it would have been approved somehow 🤔

If you need to change or cancel this month's payment, you can do this in your online account - please do this as soon as you can and no later than 5 working days before your Direct Debit payment is due to come out.

Look i know I'm privileged - I live in London England - of course I'm privileged. But Eon Next seem to be telling us one thing in our DD emails which you can't actually do when you try.
