I watched the BBC thing about heat pumps and stuff. It really did prove that neither electric cars or heat pumps are the way to go until we have a grid capable of handling the anticipated capacity.
If anything, it put me off EV's even more, and heat pumps are a no-no for me anyway.
Wow I'll definitely watch once I can off-load 4 grandkids ranging from 4 to 11. Evening time I do pop the old goggle box on but it tends have a soporific effect 😴.

@retrotecchie
@WizzyWigg - I'm totally in agreement with you re: full EVs - so many negatives & few positives that I can see.
However.... I've just gone for a hybrid which I think is the way to go, certainly for city dwellers doing short journeys, with no range anxiety for longer ones.
The major benefit I can see is that since the average car's usage is to Tesco & pick the kids up from school, this can be done in leccy mode without any local exhaust emissions, so it does help clean up our cities
Also I can charge from a 13 amp socket (max current = 8amps ie 2kW) so with the Next Drive tariff the majority of my fuel cost has dropped from around 22p a mile in my old petrol car to around 3p a mile electric & 6p a mile hybrid (don't do many long journeys, and certainly don't use motorway charge points which are more expensive than petrol!)
Ah, now if they made a diesel hybrid....I'd be first in the queue!!!
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
