IHD Tariff Update Request More Troublesome Than Normal

I seem to remember reading that snippit somewhere but I have deleted and reinstalled it to no avail. I never use it for usage data anyway as I get all that from the Bright App... Oh, hang on, that doesn't work for me either 😭
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.

@JoeSoap True it's not good for usage but thought purely in desperation it might have a positive effect. 😞

Ok, time for Round 3. I have today (27 July) emailed again asking for another attempt at updating my IHD. This time I was asked to send a photo of the IHD and another of the barcode on the bottom of it, which I have done. Could this be a new approach to the problem... and will it work?

    Stay tuned for details 😁

Edit on 4 August… Well, I've still got the wrong rates on the IHD and no recent consumption data showing on the apps. Carry on reading the thread for full details.

Just a question. As the IHD gets its data from the meter(s), have you checked the meters themselves to see that the data there is the same as shown on your IHD. Any updates go to the meters first, which then should allow your IHD to update too. If the prices are not the same, that might indicated a HAN failure, and no amount of price data updates to the meter will cure that. Sorry if this is a dumb question already answered, but being a smart meter refusenik i don't generally get involved in these discussions.

I seldom look at the meters tbh and when I first requested this update about five weeks ago my tariffs, as showing on the IHD, had updated by the next morning as promised. So the update happened... but to the wrong rates. As the waters started to muddy and the HAN was being blamed as a possible culprit, I did check the meters and the only tariff info I could find was the electric rate per kWh. That matched the rate on the IHD so that was enough for me to conclude that the meters hadn't received the update.

You have prompted me to have another look at the electric meter and the tariff rate still matches what shows on the IHD. I am convinced that the rates being applied to my meters are the non-DD rates although I haven't been able to verify that. I have only learned that there is a problem with non-DD rates being applied to the meters of DD account holders through this forum. All my asking of customer service for an explanation and raising a complaint a month ago has been met with silence.

If there is a known issue, I feel we should be informed, even if they haven't a clue what's wrong or how long it might take to fix. It seems the updates work for some and it sometimes takes a few attempts to get it right. I shall keep plugging away until the updates are applied correctly or I get a proper explanation as to why it can't be done.

The wrong rates showing on the IHD isn't a great problem as they're close enough to give me an at-a-glance idea of how I'm doing each day. I keep my own tally of real usage and costs. What I do miss though is the historical usage information, right down to half-hourly, going back over a year that suddenly stopped appearing in the Bright app, and the Eon Next app for that matter, after 7 July. I found it useful and have no idea if the problem is related to the IHD issue. What I do know is that @WizzyWigg was having the same issues and as soon as his IHD tariff was finally updated correctly, the missing data also appeared in his apps. It could be a coincidence of course.

Until I get one of the issues fixed I won't know the answer. I have no idea how to get the Bright issue sorted so my only hope is to keep at it with the IHD issue and see what transpires.

IHD and apps firing on all cylinders 👍. 👴

Exactly! So it can be put right. Why for some and not for others? Updates have been correctly applied to my meters in the past so why not now? Why do some energy specialists ask for photos and some not? Why do some say it will update overnight and some in 3-5 working days?

    It’s baffling 🤔

Morning @JoeSoap. I take it there's no change. Just for interest have you had a monthly statement yet? If so what are the readings, are they smart or estimate? 🤔

Last statement was 6 July and all readings were Smart. What are you thinking 🤔

Only me being silly and thinking that your problem is connected to the fact you were 'Virtually ' thought to have switched to another supplier. 🙃 And the DCC thinks you are in the process of swapping back. I know that's totally ridiculous. What a stupid idea! 🙃
