Yes, the mail attachment was fine, but I don't check my email that often for Eon messages as it's usually easier to check on the account. But not so easy if the attachment is garbage!
Looks like I won't be saving very much at all. A couple of pence off a unit will make little impact for a low electricity-only user. The outrageously high standing charge hasn't changed one iota. Surely the SoLR levy isn't needed any more as no-one else has gone bust in the last 20 months?!
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
Mmm to fix or not to fix my energy tariff...not something I expected to ever see 😅, but here we are.
I see the sides of both, and I can see why it's such a hard choice. @retrotecchie explaining the variable mortgage 💯 just highlights that sometimes 'risks' can pay off but in the same breath they can go totally belly up. Sometimes fixing can just be more beneficial to you and some people prefer to just not think about it or they just don't want to energy deep dive like us 🤣

I’ve been a fan of fixes for many years but recently reverted to the SVR and probably won’t rush into anything anytime soon. I had the price drop email yesterday and was astonished at my new DD amount. Last August when I fixed with Eon Next my DD was increased from £200 to an eye watering £535 per month. I immediately reduced it by 10% on line and started economising.
Since then I have requested and received £1000 in refunds, my DD has fallen to £320 and I’m still several hundred pounds in credit. As a result of my economising, current credit balance (which they seem to have taken into account) and upcoming price reduction, my new DD will be £197 per month from July.
After the shock of ten months ago I’m over the moon. From an estimated £535 per month last August to £197 this July… happy days 👍… and diesel way down in price too 👍👍
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
I’d kind of like even an option to consider fixing. EON Next don’t offer me anything other than standard. Would love to know how they are rolling these out

I noticed today that Martin Lewis has sent a letter to Ofgem for increased transparency for fixed tariffs.
@WizzyWigg thanks for the info
its all the more lacking in transparency when EON Nexts home page talks about fixed rate tariffs and then opaquely only offers to limited customers.
I would like to be at least offered options although it is very unlikely that any 'fix' would benefit me at all or even tempt me. In the same way that my mother at least offers me broccoli 🥦 when I visit for a rare Sunday lunch. She knows full well I always decline 🤢, but she still offers 'just in case'.
The key for me is in the word 'fix'. As with casinos, the odds will always be stacked in favour of 'the house', especially after 2021.
I like your analogy with the casino. 😊
I have tended to think of stocks and shares. You can watch the energy market yourself (SVT) and make your own decisions, or get someone to manage it (Fixed), knowing that's what you are going to spend over whatever period, and pay for the privilege. The all important thing is to have the information to make the decision. It's early days I know but hopefully the mist (or in some places fog) is clearing. 🕵
PS I hate brussels sprouts👽.

Reason: Extra information
@WizzyWigg @retrotecchie
your points are good. I don’t even have an option to fix, yet others are. It may not be right for me but the lack of transparency as to why some are and others don’t is what I don’t understand
It may or not be any consolation but I have no fixed option at the moment unless I looked elsewhere, and elsewhere isn't very inspiring. For the moment sitting on the fence and watching with an SVT is my preference. I fully understand it's not everyone's. I've said it before, "Good will come to those who wait" . Hoping Mr Lewis' letter might have it's desired effect.
