Adding pictures from a mobile device

Hey you lovely lot 👋

We know that we are currently unable to upload a picture easily using a mobile device 🤳 we know this has been an issue for some of our members recently as not everyone uses a computer/laptop to log in to the community.

We have taken all of your lovely feedback on board 🚂 The good news is this is now in the works & a fix should be coming pretty soon 🎉 so keep an eye out for this!

Well, how soon is soon? It has either been fixed already or was never a problem in the first place as I just tried and had no problem at all.

Just uploaded that picture straight off the Haemorrhoid phone. No different to doing it from a PC, so I don't see what the problem was?

Well we did say soon 🤣 there was an issue it wasn't letting people upload I even tried it myself and it wouldn't work but I have just tested it and seems it is 100% working now 🤩 we will get the how to add an image guide updated 😊

The only thing I noticed is that if you use a phone in portrait, you only see a basic text box to post. if you rotate the phone to landscape, you get the full set of icons that allow inserting an image, so maybe that's where the problem lies? If you select the image icon then the usual upload dialogue appears, then you can browse your phone, select your picture gallery and then pick your photo just as you do on a 'pooter.👍

Thanks @retrotecchie it's lovely to see that wee face again 😊 I'm sorry to hear you were at a funeral today though I hope you're doing ok?

I had a chat with @Beki_EONNext earlier about the steps involved to add the pics and it's in development to make it a bit easier as there shouldn't be so many steps involved from a mobile, so fingers crossed it's implemented soon.

I have noticed that some people posting photos of meters etc. end up with the photos showing 90 degrees out, causing cricked necks. I thought I would try posting a photo using my iPhone so took a photo holding my phone in portrait. When trying to post it, I then had to turn my phone to landscape, as @retrotecchie says, to be able to select the photo from my library and add the image. Here is the result…

… as you can see, it’s sideways.

I then took the same photo after turning my phone 90 degrees anti- clockwise to landscape to take the photo and repeated the process with this result…

Hey presto. I now know that if I want to post a photo straight from my phone’s photo library then I need to have taken the photo in landscape.

The same applies if I choose the ‘Take Photo or Video’ option instead of ‘Photo Library’, I need to take the photo in landscape.

I hope this saves a few cricked necks 😂

Edit... Well, I have since deleted the photos from my phone and they seem to have disappeared from the forum when viewing from my PC. When viewing from my phone, the top photo is missing but the bottom one is still there. I’m baffled.

Nice spot there Joe. The first photo I took of that computer rack was taken in portrait and came out on it's side. When I posted the picture of me, I took it in portrait and it came out in portrait when I posted it. Phones seem to have a mind of their own!
