IHD's waste of time money and effort

So, in my opinion having had an email from E.on Next about the issue with IHDs not having the correct tariff downloaded, from a consumers point of view they are a pointless waste of time, effort and money.
Apparently E.on are not responsible to ensure accurate information regarding tariff values is downloaded and installed. Instead they are solely there to guide us on usage (kWh ). They don't even need to make sure correct daily standing charges are installed.
Not impressed at all with E.on Next and the way they are handling this.
    Ican feel a switch coming.

Make a complaint and if necessary take it to the ombudsman. The impression given in the TV adverts differs wildly from what you actually get. And because they're "free" you have no contract to enforce regarding the deficiencies you have listed.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

Hi @Ryan1 Anasa here 👋 I'm so sorry to hear you've not had a good time with your smart IHD monitor. From your post I can't see exactly what the issue might be. I do know there are some issues at the moment with a few IHDs that haven't had a tariff update and we're working on a fix for this. Its not ideal I know but as @meldrewreborn said if you can get in touch with one of our Digi Energy Specialists and asked them to have a look into your issues and raise this as a complaint you'll be able to find out exactly what the issue is.

It's quite sad when IHDs go wrong as when they do work they are brilliant but when they go wrong it can sometimes take a while to fix which we're working on in the background all the time.

Please come back to us if you've not got a satisfactory response or need further explanation this is what we're here for. If you do get in touch it would be great if you pop back on here and let us know how you get on or if there's anything you'd like further clarification on 😊

    @Anasa_EONNext hi
the problem isn't that the IHD hasn't been updated but it was updated with incorrect tariff details. From information I have received there is an issue since beginning of April which is when my IHD problem started. Had different information from E.on each time about issue so wonder if anything is actually being done.
Not happy, it should not take nearly two months to sort the issue.

You are correct that they are a waste of time and money.

Time because it's actually quicker and easier to take your own meter readings and put your correct tariffs into a simple spreadsheet and track your usage accurately than it is to keep chasing these problems up ad nauseum.

Money because we all contribute to the tune of £20 per year per fuel to finance the whole smart metering fiasco, whether we have or want the damn things or not.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

This is the only way I use my IHD - TBH I never look at the £ usage as I know it can often be incorrect. I just lift the kWh used for the previous day (from the IHD) and let the spreadsheet do the heavy lifting especially for the final column (estimated bill for this month - should be just under £100).

I can though appreciate that having an IHD without correct tariff information on it is unhelpful if a customer needs to budget on a daily basis. Whatever did we do before the age of 'Smart Meters'?

Paid 2.5p a unit for gas, 6 or 7p a unit for leccy, didn't have exorbitant standing charges and we were billed quarterly.

The old ways were the best 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
