Absolutely brilliant. You have one great advantage over all the computer bods. If we have to go back to candle power you'll be the winner ๐. Back to fundamental principles ๐.
As long as the spreadsheet doesn't catch fire when I hold it close to the candle ๐
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but Iโll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.

If we all have to revert to candle power, that suggests there will be nothing to track with a spreadsheet...manual or otherwise!
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I invariably check the maths of any complicated formulae via pencil and paper before committing to a spreadsheet these days. The last one I had a go at in the last few weeks was working out exactly what my pensions will pay this new tax year. Checked my calculations with the actuals (provided by HMRC online) and was elated to finally work out exactly how my pensions are calculated - months 2-12 have been easy enough to work out but my month 1 payment has remained a mystery until last week. Finally managed to blow away the mystery of the first pension payment and exactly when new rates apply - a prize for anyone that can give the answer to this one ๐.
@WizzyWigg @retrotecchie, I like your spreadsheets - may just grab an idea or two off them.
@meldrewreborn, I was originally on Excel but have migrated to Open Office once the version I had stopped working many years ago. OO does the low-level stuff I need.

Please help yourself. Mine was the nearest I could put together for someone who has little spreadsheet knowledge and would run on a tablet, phone or PC. It's more of an energy costing calculator to prevent the shock of unexpected bills. Tried to design it so almost anyone could use it. My own spreadsheet is way more complicated.

And state pensions are paid 'in arrears' so if the rates change, there is usually a delay, which will be sorted by the next payment, according to Radio 4's Moneybox programme.
