This is like a signal booster to improve the links between the gas and electricity smart meters and between the electricity meter (that hosts the Comms hub) and the IHD.
alt-HAN has been developed by a cross industry body of which EON/EONNEXT are members.
I have found that the maximum usable reliable distance between the comms hub and any IHD is at most 10M. This measurement was done the open air by me basically walking away from the Smart Meter. Between 9m and 10m the signal dropped to zero.
Good evening @despairingcustomer How are you? 🤔 Good question! We're working on lots of updates behind the scenes but we'll let you know if and when we do start to offer these. I'll be sure to keep you posted 😊

Looks like your IHD still isn’t doing what it should do. Those alt HAN devices look like they could be posted out easily enough and plugged in to provide an easy fix. When and if Eon Next will do that is another matter of course.
I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit.
Hi Im disappointed that there's an 'if' in your reply. alt-HAN was developed by the industry to address smart meter to IHD issues. see their website - https://althanco.com/
Your position is odder stsill as EON and EONnext are listed as partners - see https://althanco.com/our-partners/

Hi although the device on the house just gets plugged into a mains socket, it looks like the one with meters needs to be wired up?

Hi it's been almost three months is there any news on EON-NEXT rolling out alt-HAN?
From what I hear from 'insiders', Alt-HAN is a possible option for new meter installs and likely won't be available as a retrofit for older installations. Even so, Alt-HAN will only effectively improve the situation in around 2% of 'difficult cases'.
So I wouldn't hold my breath too much if I were you. Especially as you have a Kaifa electric meter. Alt-HAN would need to be paired with Landis and Gyr meters.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Hi four months on - any news on when EON NEXT will be re-fisting customers to fit the alt-HAN devices?
Good evening @despairingcustomer its great to see you back on the forum! I hope you're well! I've no update as yet but I can see if I can find out anything more in the meantime for you. I promise you've not been forgotten😊
