Is price differential depending on the way you pay legal?

@gbhxu
Yes but those without a DD in place don't get charged extra. Those with a DD get a discount. I think that was a workaround for the credit card thing so that some businesses offered a bit of discount if you didn't pay by CC.I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -
@JoeSoap
the problem is that some people don’t pay their bills on time or at all. It certainly isn’t right for the extra costs incurred by suppliers to be transferred to those that do pay on time or in advance.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -

I only had a stab at answering the previous post with a fact about paying by DD and a thought about a workaround with regard to CC charges. I pay by DD so am happy with the discount. I don’t think it’s illegal or even wrong. -
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Marvellous 😁 I just couldn't work out the pertinence of your post. The customer pays for everything in the end (those of us who do actually pay) and in that particular case the cost is borne by us all, regardless of our method of payment. -
@gbhxu the reason we offer a discount to direct debit customers is because it costs us less to manage the account. When a customer makes payment by direct debit it means there are less admin costs involved and it's easier to manage, we can therefore pass that saving back on to the customer. In an ideal world we would love all of our customers to pay by direct debit however some either don't want to or are unable which is why there are other options available.
Customers do have the option to pay by direct debit and choose a variable direct debit instead of a fixed monthly payment, so they benefit from the discount but still pay for what they use instead of paying a set amount each month 😊"Green is the prime colour of the world and that from which it's loveliness arises"-Pedro Calderon De La Barca 🌳

Blatant discrimination
You can't even be bothered to send a paper bill unless a customer requests one.
We used to get a discount for prompt payment. Now that's gone
Perhaps I should start charging rent for having your meter taking space up in my house. Or even charge an administration fee when I pay my billLast edited by DebF_EONNext; 24-03-23 at 21:40. Reason: language against community values

Hey @gbhxu,
Businesses find Direct Debit just as convenient and efficient as customers and for this reason, many businesses offer discounts in return for you paying by Direct Debit. We have so many different options for customers to pay their bills and you can find more about it here: https://www.eonnext.com/help/bills-and-payments
Paper bills are a thing of the past! We're leading the way as a sustainable energy provider, alongside many other eco-friendly businesses who choose to bill digitally. We're paper free across all our sites too and it feels so good! 🤗
