I recently had a classic Economy 7 meter upgraded to a SMETS2 multi-tariff meter,
How long should it take for my new meter to be configured to Economy 7, and why wasn't it configured before installation? -

Best Answer@Taff7996 When was the meter installed usually installed for smart meters, configuration can take between 6-8 weeks to show on the account and be fully functional. -

the meters are installed by contractors who do not know your billing requirements, so it’s impossible for them to preconfigured. Keep badgering away keep records and be ready to raise a complaint if it’s not sorted quickly.
personally I wouldn’t describe a smart meter as an upgrade but I’m cynical !Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
@meldrewrebornthe meter was fitted by an E'on engineer, well he arrived in a van with E'on next on the side

I asked to go onto E7 14th November 2022, paid £157.86 for the privilege, I've had three meters fitted since, so it's been nearly 15 weeks already,
Had meters fitted on 17th January, 10th February and 17th February 2023

@Taff7996 I can understand how frustrating this can be. From what I can see the customer service team has already been in touch with the specialist team to finalise things for your Economy7 meter. I did also see that there is a specific energy specialist that is currently dealing with this matter, I did ask her to get in touch with you to give you more detailed information. Hopefully at the beginning of this coming week.
