Won't be soon, but we're very rural and small scale wind turbines are quite popular among the farming community and there is talk of getting a 'community' turbine set up along with taking the excess from a couple of existing ones. Early days, but the conversations are being had.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I agree @meldrewreborn they are some very wise words indeed ๐.
I guess I'm very much from the immediate gratification generation (probably the case with myself, certainly not for everyone!) so I've never really had something I had to completely stick at myself e.g. fixing my car. So I very much do need to shift in the way I do things in order to save money ๐ฐ
That's amazing @retrotecchie hopefully they'll get it in the works soon ๐

Very similar, except the Welsh Government are planning various changes to the rules so that planning for community scale projects is easier. If a village or community all want to put up a turbine and a farmer is happy to provide the corner of a field then there doesn't need to be a whole planning, consultation and possible appeal process. Should speed things up a treat. The field next to me already has a 150kW turbine powering a farm. It's just part of the 'scenery'. We have cracking views out over Cardigan bay. A few 'egg-beaters' dotted around adds to the view in my opinion.
We've got quite a few smaller windfarms in our area, none visible from where I live, but not far away, and they don't detract from the scenery at all. Some people used to complain when they were installed, but they don't bother me at all. Good to hear the change in Planning rules should speed things up for you.๐

Reason: Adding info
That's interesting @Tommysgirl & @retrotecchie ๐ค. I live in quite a scenic village (as some would say) in the Peak District โฐ and I feel like that would most probably come up if we were to discuss that too!
Some wind turbines can be so blooming loud too ๐ฃ so I bet that would be a discussion here too. Maybe I might mention it ๐ค
My next door neighbour when I first moved here had a 50kW turbine that was 100 metres from my bedroom window and kept me up at night in anything over a Force 6. Within a month, I just tuned it out. Then I couldn't sleep for the first few weeks after I moved!
