Hi there,
my father passed away on the 5th of January and has a pre payment electric meter.
We have just emptied the property today and given the keys back as it’s under the local authority.
Now my question is: is there any way of getting the money back that is still on the pre payment meter. We have took photos of what is left, just shy of £100?
many thanks
Send an email to supplier with "prepay meter, death of customer" in the subject line.
In the message set out the situation in full, address of the deceased account details etc, and include photos /scan of death certificate and will (if one exists) or your relationship to the deceased and trace of your entitlement to the balance on the meter. It may take a bit of time to resolve if the experiences of others are anything to go by.
@PeterT_EONNext has posted before on this subject and may be able to inject some more information.
Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless.
I am really sorry to hear about your loss. I am sending you my deepest condolences. I was wondering if you manage to hear back from our customer service or if we can help somehow.
Hi,
no I spoke to someone on the phone and they stated that there was nothing that they could do about the credit left on the meter as once it is on you cannot get it back.
Good afternoon @Abbicus Anasa here 👋 I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, if you have put the money on the meter there is no reason why you would not be entitled to have that back. Unless that money was put on there due to the government payments or Warm Home discount. Let me look into this a bit further for you. Do you have any receipts showing that you made any payments onto the meter? I know you took a screen shot when you left which will also help. If you can please pop me over a DM with the details when you get a chance 🙂
