I received my bill in December 22 saying my variable DD will be taken from my account on 9th Jan 23. In the meantime I receive my Government scheme payment which puts my account into credit. On the 9th Jan 23 Eon still take the money out of my account even though the bill was covered by the Government scheme. How do I stop this happening?
You could think about changing your DD date to later in the month, but it probably isn't necessary.😀
Indeed, at the worst the OP will now have the next 3 bills with a £67 reduction or possibly next month will see February's reduction applied as well (making 2 X £67 EBSS payments applied to their account) before the DD is taken. 👍
The late arrival of EBSS has meant that your account after your DD has been paid will stand at £67 in credit. Even if this happens during the next 2 months, your next 3 direct debits (inc April's DD) will be £67 lower.
@TimJud
The January £67 payments were delayed because of the Christmas Holiday period and were applied to electricity accounts on 5th and 6th January. It's very likely Eon Next had already requested your DD for 9th January before they applied the £67. It shouldn't happen with the remaining February and March payments, as there are no Bank holidays, and the £67 credits should be made at the beginning of each month. You could think about changing your DD date to later in the month, but it probably isn't necessary.😀
@TimJud thank you for your question. The Government scheme, compared to the billing scheme are two separate systems if so we can call it. The scheme from the Government adds the £67 straight into your energy account where the Bill once is generated activated by the DD. Although, if you want, what you can do, is to request a refund on the credit in your account through our customer service.
