My DD request for my December bill is for 16th of January for £68.50. The EBSS will be credited tomorrow, leaving my account £1.50 in debit, so I'll make a manual payment of £1.50 to zero my account. If my experience over the last three months is anything to go by, they will still take the full amount as scheduled.
Not a problem because if it wasn't for the Gumment divvy, I'd be paying my energy bill anyway. So the money is already budgeted for.
Next month, I'll be £67 in credit when I generate a bill, and the EBSS for February will then rock up. If the bill is generated before the payment arrives, they'll deduct the credit balance first and then bill me for the balance. The EBSS will roll in, but I'll still get the DD taken around the 16th.
In April, prices go up by 20% and the EBSS stops, so any credit I have built up I will be jolly glad of.
I appreciate that some folk are including the £67 in their monthly budgeting, but I find it's better to work my finances on the basis of not getting it, and then be that bit better off when it does arrive. Sure, that might mean a few compromises in other areas, but when your only income is Carers Allowance at £67 a week, uber-budgeting becomes second nature.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
@Han_EONNext Yes, but the proposed solution wasn't ideal for me (I was told to raise an indemnity claim with my bank) I haven't the time to do this and I don't need the extra stress this will cause either, so I'll just have to struggle through.
Ah, I am afraid if the money has already been taken then that is the only option, but I completely feel how that would make you frustrated! I am going to pop you a message to get some account details from you - I would like to ensure this does not happen again

The only thing I can think of to stop it happening next time is can Eon-Next change the date of your direct debit to later in the month?

Reason: Adding info
It should be applied sometime today. Slightly delayed by a couple of days due to the New Year Bank holiday. Although November and December were a little more timely, the October payment didn't land until 06/10/22.
The comment "should be applied sometime today" is being rather optimistic with these people, just don't hold your breath. Just think of the huge amounts of money they are making on OUR money !!!
