So take some pictures of your meters with the serial number of the meter and the reading clearly visible, and send them in. Then they'll be less able to argue.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. Following in a similar thread, there was a story in the news just recently about another energy company sending out representatives to check up on a vulnerable lady who they suspected of fiddling meter readings as her energy usage had halved. They read her meter but also interrogated neighbours about lifestyle her which was a bit naughty. She had simply reduced her usage because she couldn't afford to use as much as she did before the price rises.
Folk are really trying to cut back. Energy companies not believing in this isn't helping.

If everybody cuts back on their usage as being recommended by MSE, then there will be a lot of meter readings that will be considerably lower than previous months or the same month last year, if they have been with that energy company for some time.
All energy companies should be aware of this and be ready -

@Johnh1995 Absolutely! As times are becoming harder we are seeing more and more people using less energy (me included!). When you go to submit your meter readings if the number is significantly lower than before we might ask you to get in touch with us to send us a photo of your meter 😁. This is for your benefit really, it's good to ensure we have other documented proof to show this is the case 😊 or even to ensure that there is no problems with your meter.🌍 Striving for a bigger, better and sustainable world!

I'm not going to be surprised if I had a knock on my door as I have more than halved my energy usage since the summer. Thing is, I use far more energy in summer than I do in winter, because I'm out in the workshop running power tools all the time when the weather is nice. @retrotecchie This is very interesting! 😮 Of course people are drastically cutting down! Especially the vulnerable who are scared of putting on the heating, can't afford to make a cooked meal. From my experience working with the supply and viability team and closely to the Revenue Protection team we did very thorough checks and a lot of digging around which did not include questioning the neighbours before we made any kind of judgement or visit...poor lady! I've just had a read! Def something to be aware of. - Thank you for this!
