ECO+ scheme

I've just been reading about the new Government funding for improving home energy efficiency, and wondered if E.ON Next is participating?

The list of participating companies listed on the Ofgem website includes E.ON (and N.Power, which is where I was moved over from personally) but not E.ON Next - not sure if they're the same entity? The list is here: https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/environment...ontact-details

The E.ON Next website has a hyperlink to the ECO scheme here, under 'Energy Saving':https://www.eonnext.com, but when I click the link it just refreshes the same page rather than displaying any further info. Don't know if that's just my computer but it's the same story on a couple of different browsers I've tried.

Just curious if any of the community team here have any info they can share? I'd be very interested to learn more about it if E.ON Next is taking part.

    Thanks!

Hey @Emily 👋 @retrotecchie is exactly right and the scheme is not fully rolled out to all customers yet 😊. At the mo' the scheme is currently still in the pilot period and hopefully in the coming months we can roll the scheme out more widely.

In the meantime we do have a number of schemes you may be eligible for. One of them being the Affordable Warmth Scheme. This scheme helps those eligible to keep their homes more efficient and warm by offering:

    • New A Rated Gas Boilers for £395 (boilers are only for homeowners)
    • Free Cavity Wall Insulation
    • Free Loft Insulation

To be eligible for this scheme you will have to own your own home and claim certain benefits 😊. If you would like to find out more or have a look at the eligible benefits please do let us know or contact one of our Energy Specialists.

E.On Next should be participating as this is a government scheme to which all suppliers are required to participate. However, any government announcement is usually just a 'heads up' and until the details have been worked out and mechanisms put in place to support the scheme, possibly information on exact details is still rather sketchy.

From what I can gather, the scheme will be targeted at all properties with an EPC rating of D or below (mine just scraped from an F to an E by one point) but I will not qualify for the scheme as it involves mostly cavity wall insulation (not the best idea in the world) or additional loft insulation for the majority of circumstances. I don't have cavity walls and my loft can't take any more insulation! There are other measures apart from those two big ticket items, but they mostly don't apply to my property.

So, until the details are thrashed out, how expansion of the scheme is to operate or how and when us punters are informed about the details is a way off yet.

Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

Yes, perhaps the details haven't been worked out yet. From what I've read though, energy suppliers can start work under the scheme right now, so it was surprising not to be able to find any information on the website about ECO+ or how to apply if E.ON Next are involved. I'm hoping one of the community team might be able to give us a bit of insight into what if anything is going on behind the scenes :)

Thanks for this @Han_EONNext. That's a little confusing though, and wasn't my experience. Back in December I booked in a call to begin the ECO4 process because the website indicated I was eligible - the call was booked for early January - but no-one called at the appointed time. Information online says that the scheme is open from July 2022 until 2026 with no mention of a pilot, so it is frustrating to read that the scheme is now closed. Could you say any more about what is happening and why this is, please?

    @Emily

I too completed the online application in December to be told I was indeed eligible and qualified for an up to £3000 grant under the scheme for works to my property only to then be told 'we don't cover your area'. I've still had no satisfactory answer as to why not. They are happy to provide my area with electricity and happy to take customers money, but seem much less happy to fulfil suppliers obligations.

Conversations I have had with both BEIS and OFGEM tell me that the ECO schemes are supposed to be fully available to everyone who qualifies and not subject to any kind of postcode lottery.

I'm sorry that this is the case @retrotecchie & @Emily 🤔. Completely understand why this is frustrating! But I'm sure we can get to the bottom of it.
I'll ask around and see what is what 🕵

@Beki_EONNext was also asking back in December but didn't seem to have any answers for me either. Hopefully you'll have better luck 🤞

@retrotecchie I have emailed again but no closer to an answer. All of the ECO scheme things lie outside of E.ON Next with E.ON Energy.

Yes, it was the eon energy website that the eco link referred me to. Surprisingly, I ran the application again five minutes ago and the application form had 'remembered' all my previously submitted details.

Yet again, I qualify but ....

Name: eligible but not your area.PNG
Views: 2096
Size: 362.4 KB

The only difference being, a pretty picture rather than a 'plain text' refusal. And now saying my 'postcode area' rather than just my 'area'. Which now confirms that this is indeed a postcode lottery.

Still no news on the WHD either...
