ECO4 is apparently a 4 year scheme so it shouldn’t close yet. I think the labelling for these ECO schemes is very confusing - even on the OFGEM site they switch from one designation to another at random.

@meldrewreborn
It's a four year scheme, but they have separate 'application windows' for each year of the scheme. The 2022 window was Sometime in March up until 23 December, although the E.On Next link to the scheme was 'broken' until 10 December. Thus instead of a nine month window, it was less than a couple of weeks.
OFGEM also release figures showing how many grants have been awarded or works carried out under each tranche of the scheme. The figures so far for the latest tranche are truly appalling. This is a 'supplier obligation' although there is a bit of wiggle room in as much as numbers can be carried forward or back a year depending on uptake. But if a nine month window was only open for a few days, and several people who did managed to apply have been turned down or had appointments to progress works not kept, they aren't exactly proactive on meeting their obligations, are they?!Last edited by retrotecchie; 09-03-23 at 15:02.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
@retrotecchie
I’m with you!
If the application route is simple and straightforward then that would be good, but it seems to be deliberately confusing and subject to contradictory advice. Which is often the way with E.on Next it seems.Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
@meldrewreborn
Actually completing the application was very simple. When I tried the direct link on the Eon Energy website a couple of days ago, the application was exactly the same and had even remembered my answers from the previous application in the 2022 window.
Eligibility was exactly the same (approved) in both cases. Not operating in my area was the first response, then not operating in my 'postcode area' was the slightly more specific second response. -
I very much have to agree with all of you 😊 & I think it's really important to get proper answers and facts around why its coming out as ineligible🤔 - hopefully @Beki_EONNext will be able to get answers and let us all know soon.🌍 Striving for a bigger, better and sustainable world!

@retrotecchie - I have been passed over to 'Lead Gen and E.ON Led group' for some support on this now.
In the meantime they have said:
I suppose you have already done that bit though? -
@Beki_EONNext - thanks for posting this, Beki. I wasn't aware of the flexible eligibility aspect to the ECO scheme when I started this thread, but I've just looked into it thanks to your message. My local council have a 'statement of intent' and eligibility criteria on their website... for 2019-2022! No application process published. Hopefully your enquiries will bear more fruit...

@Emily
Likewise. And two of the companies on the Local Authority approved list of contractors in my area you have to apply through are no more.

@Emily & @retrotecchie I'll keep asking the questions until we get some more answers. Would it be worth contacting the local councils instead to ask? They may be able to shed further light on it too.

@Beki_EONNext Thank you. I've just emailed my local authority so perhaps some further information will come from that. The information on the website looks to be out of date, though, and having just run through the same eligibility checker that I believe @retrotecchie was talking about, it now says there's nothing available in my postcode (which was not the case in December, when I booked an appointment but then nobody called). It seems a bit strange that nothing's available if ECO4 is running 2022-2026, doesn't it?
