That sounds odd. The worst that should happen is fridge/freezers catching up a bit. Maybe a glitch that will sort itself.
You could download the Hildebrand Bright App as I have. Once the data loads you can see your actual consumption down to half-hourly intervals. There’s a bit of delay but by this time tomorrow all today’s data should be there.I'm an Eon Next dual fuel customer with no particular expertise but have some time on my hands that I am using to try and help out a bit. -
@JoeSoap
What I suspect has happened here is that the IHD did not 'reset' at midnight because the power went out. Chances are it is displaying usage up to 8pm last night, and then has continued totting up from 1am onwards, missing the midnight reset.
It will more than likely go back to normal tomorrow.Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons. -
Thanks for the thoughts on this matter
Finally got through to eon on the phone and they just said to let the SMETS2 smart meter run flat and leave it overnight then charge it back up again.. @retrotecchie... I thought that may be the case, but usage up to 8pm was £3.10 then from 1am to 6am it was at £2.28. @JoeSoap ... i downloaded that app onto ipad made an account then got stuck trying to find a mac address and could not set it up -
@adrirene
Keep us posted on any progress. I can’t remember exactly what I had to do to get the Bright App but do remember it was really straightforward when I put it on my iPhone. Maybe try on another device? -
@adrirene. Interesting situation, but my advice is to treat the in home display as a guide rather than definitive. The only things that should always be correct are you readings. Your online account, is what you are billed from, and if you concentrate on your daily consumption you’ll be better able to spot anomalies.

Current Eon Next customer, ex EDF, Zog and Symbio. Don't think dual fuel saves money and don't like smart meters. Chronologically Gifted. If I offend let me know by private message, but I’ll continue to express my opinions nonetheless. -
The MAC address will be physically printed on the front of your meter somewhere and will be 12 characters long, pairs sometimes separated with dashes or colons, in hexadecimal digits, i.e. 0-9 and A to F.
Something along the lines of 00:b6:7c:32:5a:f7 or something. On your actual meter itself, not the IHD unit.
