On the 1st of the month, EONext took my direct debit from the bank. On the 2nd, they credited the government payment of £66 to my online account. Hooray, I was in credit 😀
On the 9th, EONext repaid my direct debit to my bank. Boooo, I was in debit 🙁
I phoned (and got through PDQ) and was told that it was the government making them repay it and they had to follow the law. I gave up then, because how can you argue with such stupidity.
I'm not disadvantaged in any way, so don't need to take further action. I'll just owe them money to be paid someday.
I cannot see the rationale myself for why that happened, but feel free to make a manual payment to take the money back out of your bank account and put it onto your Eon tab.
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.

They seem to have gone to a lot of bother for no purpose. If only EONext would put their meagre resources where they are really needed, they would have fewer irritated customers.
As regards overpaying on my account, I prefer any excess monies to be under my control, not the supplier's. Then, when they go bust and have to be taken over, I won't be having a fight to recover my money.
@GSimpson Just catching up with your thread and wondered if it was the EBSS payment that was refunded to you? This would have been due to your full DD already been taken if it wasn't updated in time on the 1st October.

No, Beki, the exact amount of the DD taken on 1st November was repaid into my bank account on 9th November. Why? I was then in debit.
@GSimpson Morning! @Beki_EONNext is not due in until later on this evening, I'd be happy to have a look for you, see if I can see what might have gone on? Your email address brings up two different addresses so if you could pop me a DM with your account number I'll have a look. 😊
