No price difference between the two time patterns. There are many different time patterns depending on several factors. Some even run between 10pm and 5am. The dairy farm next to me has 11.30pm till 06.30am, which means they can just squeeze the 5am milking into off peak time.
Thanks mate, I wasn't sure if there was a price difference. I'm in West Lancs by the way. I'll call Octopus energy tomorrow and explain Eon won't give me a 2nd generation smart meter and see what they can do for me but I'm probably just better staying with Eon for the time being. It's £157 to get the meter for the economy 7 setup.
To be charged £157 to change the meter just because you want a different tariff is disgraceful to be honest. If a customer was on E7 and switched to a single rate tariff there'd be no charge. I know that the meter wouldn't have to be changed but that's not the point.
Eon-next say that there's an EV tariff coming soon, 'details' here, but I've read one post where they signed up a year ago and are still waiting.
It does seem to be a bit of a swizz! The first person I spoke to said the charge would be £235 and the next person told me £157. Are they just making it up as they go along? I seem to get completely different answers from whoever I talk to. It was the same when I spoke to Octopus. One person telling me I can have everything I asked for and then when I go to the next step the next person tells me I need X, Y and Z and can't have the tariff I want. I was going back and forth between the two companies and in the end it was making me really anxious. It is their job! They should know exactly what I need and they should be able to get it for me, not leave it up to me to do the legwork. I felt as though Octopus just couldn't be bothered and Eon just didn't know what was going on for the first few calls, I just thought I'd keep trying until I found someone who knew what they were talking about, I found someone from Eon who was really helpful, eventually.
Hopefully it is all sorted now, or at least moving forward for you. If nothing else, we've at least kept you company along the journey!
Don't shoot me, I'm only the piano player. I DON'T work for or on behalf of EON.Next, but am willing to try and help if I can. Not on mains gas, mobile network or mains drainage. House heated almost entirely by baby dragons.
I don't think I have registered this with you yet. All I have been told to do by Eon is email my export certificate to eondriveuk@eonenergy.com. I did this 2 days ago and haven't had a reply yet. Maybe you can advise me what to do.

Prepare yourself for a l o n g wait judging by several posts on FIT/SEG.
This just gets more complicated! I'm looking at the SEG application form and it's saying I need a SMETS1 or SMETS2 so I can see my export usage or they won't be able to pay me, yet they want me to go back to the old economy 7 meter and lose the smart meter so I can have the decent night rate. Will I be able to sell back to the grid with my new (old) economy 7 meter?
